This term I have been doing a sports programme with Charlie. I tried different sport skills.

My favourite part was when I played soccer and when I helped with the equipment.

It also was fun playing with the Paiaka people.

PBL - Term 1

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about kindness and the big question was: How can we build community through our actions?

First, we explored some collaborative activities and discussed how we could include kindness and build a sense of community through our actions at camp. Next, we were organised into groups where we had to unpack the above question. In our groups we considered how we could spread community and kindness through our entire school community. We decided that we would offer something that was free and would make others happy.

We created an action plan and we did a dance video to the ymca.


Reflection:
For our final product our group put a dance video on the projector for the hub to join in and copy our moves.


I contributed by helping with the dance to see how the Tumu hub would dance to the video.

I think the PBL might impact on others by putting a smile on the Tumu hub's face.

What I learned about working with others was really fun because the Tumu hub was happy.

The Magnificent day!

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was; How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance MnMs for the team. We were much better at the second challenge because it was the second time we did it.

In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product? Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My team made this Stress balls. We made lots of colours. Here is a picture of my stall.

Reflection

My highlight from this PBL was buying a christmas cracker.

Next time I would make two coloured stress balls if we had time

Hi I’m Aidan This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about cultural stories and the big question was; What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories? Christmas and Easter are holidays. First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas. Culture is Where were we are from. Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage. I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do. In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world then we concentrated on Maori legends. I read Maui and the sun. We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote the script, some students took on the job of making all the artwork, some worked hard on organising the music and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with dance and drama.

Reflection: For our production I contributed by Being a battle dancer I think the show might impact on others by Teaching others the story What I learned about working with others was I could share my Ideas. Do you know the Battle of the Mountains Story?
